faq Q: What is the difference between herbs and spices?

A: A herb is made from the leaves of a plant. A spice is made from the seeds of a plant. They are not always the same in taste. From the cilantro plant we get cilantro, but also coriander seeds, and they don't taste the same.

Q: Can I adjust how much spice/herb I use from a recipe?
A: Absolutely. This is often done in recipes calling for hot spices. Also, most recipes understate how much thyme to use.


Q: What payment methods do you accept?

Q: Is fresh better than dried?
A: Usually, but with some spices/herbs are fine either way. We feel that with parsley and rosemary, fresh is recommended.

Q: How long will spices herbs last in the cupboard?
A: If stored in a cool, dark place, they will last 2-3 years. Seeds last longer. Hot spices retain potency longer.

Q: Do spices or herbs have health benefits, or are used in herbal remedies?
A: Yes, at least as far as medically shown. They can have a high concentration of antioxidants, polyphenols, and anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric is a prime example, which has curcumin that is a powerful anti-inflammatory. It helps alleviate joint pain, reduce the risk of chronic diseases and even supports brain health.
